On April 2, 2012, 21 supporters and friends of the Pasadena Jaycees Foundation gathered at Staples Center to watch the Los Angeles Kings take on the Edmonton Oilers. Through the Kings’ Assist Fundraising Program, the Foundation was able to sell tickets for the game at a significant discount with a percentage of each ticket sold going to support the Pasadena Jaycees Foundation and community projects such as Operation Gobbler and Operation Santa. For many of the attendees, it was the perfect excuse to attend their first hockey game at Staples Center this season. For others, it was an opportunity to watch the professional hockey team secure its place in the upcoming playoff race.
“This is the second year that the Foundation has held a fundraiser event with the Los Angeles Kings,” said event coordinator and fundraising vice president Elana Helgesen, “and I hope that it will become an annual tradition. It’s a fantastic excuse to come together for an action-packed night of fun while supporting a wonderful cause.” If you would like to help the Foundation organize its next fundraising event, please contact Elana at:

This year's Five Acres Easter Party was held April 7th, the day before Easter. The Pasadena Jaycees were joined by students from Glendale Community College and a few volunteers from the Five Acres Guild, numbering about 25 dedicated volunteers in all.
The day's events were kicked off with two egg hunts, one for younger kids and one for the older ones. Three golden eggs were hidden for each group and each person who found one was able to choose from a special candy prize bag. After the egg hunt, the kids had an opportunity to build kites, dye eggs, have their face painted and participate in a basketball obstacle course. The Easter Bunny was there and everyone had a chance to have their picture taken with him and decorate their own frames to put the pictures in. Popcorn and snow cones were available throughout the morning, but a pizza lunch was provided to ensure everyone had enough to eat.
It was a beautiful day, that ended with a successful Easter Party. Everyone had a lot of fun, thanks to the handwork of the planning committee and all of the volunteers.
